New floor loom passementerie workshop - November - London.

Join me on November 9th & 10th in London for an immersive floor loom passementerie weaving workshop. Held at Make Town, this two-day, weekend workshop is perfect for both beginners and advanced weavers. This workshop will guide you through the intricate art of creating exquisite passementerie using a floor loom. Over the course of the workshop, you'll learn to combine colour, diverse textures, and various materials to craft stunning, hand-woven decorative trims.

  • There are only 6 places to ensure maximum tutor time. You will have your own floor loom to use during the two day class, which means you will really be able to get stuck in to learning how to make passementerie!

Day one - You will learn how to weave passementerie using a Saori floor loom. You’ll create a range of contemporary, hand-woven passementerie samples with an exciting mix of colours, textures, and materials.

Day two - On the second day, we’ll review your woven samples, and you’ll choose a design to develop further. You will spend Sunday weaving a length of passementerie, which you can take home to apply to a cushion, blanket edge, jacket hem, or any other project you envision!

Additionally, you’ll learn to hand spin your own cords and learn how to incorporate them into your woven samples.

  • No prior experience of passementerie or weaving is required. You will be fully guided through each step of the process. We will be using Saori floor looms and the looms will be set up for you in advance. This means that when you arrive at the workshop we can get weaving straight away.

You will have your own Saori floor loom to use during the weekend. This type of loom is easy to use, which means we can concentrate on weaving passementerie, rather than getting stuck on the nitty gritty of how the loom works!

Passementerie woven on this type of floor loom looks similar in appearance to passementerie that is created on a rigid heddle loom. For an illustration of how this weaving looks, please see the photos on this page.

  • Everything you need for the class is included, apart from a notebook and pen! You will have access to a wide and exciting range of materials to use during the workshop. If you have any materials at home that you wish to bring, you are more than welcome to, however this is not required.
